In the townships of Arakan, members of the United League of Arakan/Arakha Army (ULA/AA) have been working closely hand-in-hand with local residents to clean and repair drinking water ponds that were flooded and contaminated during past July, making them usable again.
Similarly, in Buthidaung Township, water ponds contaminated by flooding are being systematically restored.
As part of these cleanup and restoration efforts in Buthidaung Township, on August 15, local youth of diverse backgrounds including Arakanese, Hindu, and Muslim communities in Gaung Ni (Muslim) Village joined forces with ULA party officials, fire service, police, forestry, AAP department, administration, and Delap departments, as well as servicemen and servicewomen of the Arakha Army.
Together, they pumped out the contaminated water, cleaned, and repaired the damaged drinking water pond that was affected by the heavy flooding.
It is reported that across all townships in Arakan, including Buthidaung and Maungdaw, diverse local ethnic and religious communities living together in solidarity are actively and practically working hand-in-hand with the ULA/AA to build and carry out local development, as well as town and village sanitation and beautification efforts.
