Fascist terrorist military junta forces in a speedboat opened fire with heavy machine guns on four local fishermen in the middle of the Kaladan River mouth in Sittwe Township, Arakan State, on the evening of October 24, killing all four before seizing their fishing boat, according to local eyewitnesses.

The victims of the brutal attack were identified as Bodiya (48), Mamauk Sawlein (30), Mamauk Einus (40), and Halaya (16), all residents of the Anauk Ye IDP Camp in Wira Thaknay Township.

At around 2:00 PM on October 24, the four fishermen left the Anauk Ye IDP Camp on a motorized boat heading toward the open sea. Around 4:00 PM, a junta naval speedboat pursued their boat and opened fire with heavy machine guns in the middle of the Kaladan River mouth, approximately 3,500 meters from the Korea Port in Sittwe.

Eyewitnesses reported that junta troops relentlessly shot at the fishermen. Although some attempted to jump into the water and swim away to escape, the junta forces pursued and shot them dead.

After killing all four fishermen, the junta troops seized the motorized fishing boat and navigated back toward Sittwe, according to local residents.

Previously, junta forces allowed local fishermen to operate after extorting fees from them. However, amid severe military setbacks across multiple fronts, the junta has turned to violently targeting the very fishing boats it had previously permitted to operate.

Notably, since October 7, when junta forces attempted a landing on Ngapi Island, the Arakan Army (AA) launched a counteroffensive, inflicting heavy casualties and disabling a landing naval vessel on the same day. Junta forces have also suffered heavy losses in clashes along the Sittwe–Ponnagyun border area.

Furthermore, during a naval operation by the Arakan Army on the night of October 26, a junta Frigate warship and two landing craft were simultaneously attacked. In the wake of these losses, junta forces have responded with increasing desperation, randomly targeting civilian vessels. Consequently, the United League of Arakan (ULA) has issued a stern warning urging local residents to exercise extreme caution when traveling by water during this period.
