A curfew from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM has been imposed in Maungdaw District starting August 9 due to security conditions, according to a statement released by the Arakkha Government.

The statement noted that the RSO, ARSA, and ARA groups aiming to incite riots and unrest in Maungdaw District are operating from the neighboring country to infiltrate Arakan territory.

These groups have been committing killings, kidnappings, ambushes, and robberies targeting the people of Arakan, prompting the issuance of the curfew to ensure the safety and security of local residents.

Furthermore, residents living in Buthidaung and Maungdaw towns are informed to strictly abide by the curfew. If travel is absolutely necessary during the designated restricted hours, individuals must notify and obtain prior approval from the relevant administrative authorities before traveling.

The statement also mentioned that failure to comply with the order will result in legal action taken in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

The curfew took effect on August 9 and will remain in force until a revocation order is officially issued, according to the statement.
