Boat Carrying Construction Materials and Fertilizers to Be Exported to Arakan Arrested in Bangladesh

It is learned that the Bangladesh Coast Guard arrested a boat carrying cement and fertilizers to be exported from Bangladesh to Arakan, along with a merchant.


According to a release by the BCG on July 5, the arrest was made during a joint operation conducted by the BCG and the police in the early hours of July 4 near Latar Khali port in the North Sankuchia area of Manpura Township, Bangladesh.


BCG Deputy Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan stated that the seized boat was loaded with 450 bags of cement and 4 bags of DAP fertilizer, worth approximately 229,000 Taka, and these items are believed to have been intended for export toward Arakan.


Currently, it is learned that the seized goods, the boat, and the arrested individual have been handed over to the Manpura Police Station to proceed with legal action.


Prior to this, on July 2, the BCG also arrested five merchants along with over 600 bags of cement prepared for export toward Arakan from the Patenga area of Chittagong Township, Bangladesh.


In addition, it is learned that on June 26, the Bangladesh Navy intercepted and arrested two boats involving 21 merchants under the allegation of exporting cement bags toward Arakan.
