An exchange of gunfire broke out between the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the Rohingya Solidarity Organisation (RSO) along the Naf River near the border of Ukhiya Township, Cox's Bazar District, Bangladesh, according to local Bangladeshi media reports.

The incident occurred on June 3 at around 1:40 PM when BGB Battalion 64 raided an RSO camp based in the Anjuman Para and Bahar Para areas, near the Palongkhali border zone in Ukhiya Township.

During the raid, a brief shootout between the two sides lasted for several minutes before the RSO members retreated.

Following the clash, the BGB released a statement confirming the seizure of one G-3 rifle, three magazines, 515 rounds of ammunition, a walkie-talkie set, and various RSO organizational insignia items from inside the camp.

Lieutenant Colonel Md. Zahirul Islam, Commander of BGB Battalion 64, confirmed the border raid operation and stated that further details regarding the incident would be officially released in due course.

Armed groups, including the RSO, ARSA, ARA, and RIM, are currently active around the Bangladesh-Arakan border and nearby refugee camps.

Due to frequent territorial conflicts among these groups, as well as incidents of kidnapping, extortion, and criminal activities targeting local residents and fishermen, locals are strongly urging effective crackdowns on these groups to restore regional peace and stability.
