12 Civilians Killed and Over 60 Injured in Arakan This Month Due to Junta Attacks

It has been reported that 12 civilians were killed and over 60 others injured in Rakhine State this month as a result of airstrikes and heavy artillery shelling by the Military Junta.

On July 27, the Military Council forces launched an airstrike using a jet fighter, dropping two bombs near a stone crushing factory in Lin Bu Taung Village, Thandwe Township. The attack resulted in fires that damaged some machinery and buildings at the facility.

On July 24, jet fighters bombed Wards (7) and (8) in Thandwe Town, killing three civilians including a pregnant woman and injuring 21 others, among whom were two young children.

On July 23, an airstrike targeting the Pearl Yatanar Monastery and the AZ Family Resort in Ngapali Town wounded seven people, including a Buddhist monk and a child slightly over one year old.

On July 19, the military launched an aerial attack on Thandwe Town using bombs and machine-gun fire, injuring four residents. On the same day, three 300-pound bombs were dropped on Wards (2) and (3) in Mae Town, killing five civilians and injuring 22 people, including a monk.

Also on July 19, a junta airstrike near the Taung Pok Monastery in Ponnagyun Township injured three people, including two monks and one civilian.

On July 10, airstrikes hit a school and residential houses in Pauk Tu and Kalar Chaung villages in Gwa Township, killing four civilians, including a child, and severely injuring two others.

Between July 7 and July 10, naval vessels fired indiscriminate heavy artillery shells toward Kyeintali Town in Gwa Township, accompanied by airstrikes, which injured six civilians.

The Arakha Army (AA) issued a statement strongly condemning the Military Council's inhumane and violent attacks, stating that these atrocities have been well documented and that they will continue to respond to all military offensives in cooperation with the public and partner organizations.
