This morning, around 7:00 AM on February 4, joint forces including the Bangladesh Army conducted an operation at the Kutupalong (Lambashia) refugee camp in Cox's Bazar and arrested a top commander from the ARSA group who issues high-level orders.
The arrested individual is Zahid Hossain (alias Lalu). He was apprehended at a tea shop in Camp-1 (West), along with one Five Star pistol and two rounds of ammunition that were seized from him.
According to the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ukhiya Police Station, Nur Ahmed, the detainee has outstanding arrest warrants in six cases and is wanted by the Bangladesh government, as reported in local Bangladeshi media.
The Bangladesh government is intensifying security measures in the refugee camps more than before, ahead of the upcoming national election scheduled for February 12.

Local media reports indicate that the terrorist ARSA commander Zahid Hossain (alias Lalu) was arrested by the Bangladesh police along with weapons and ammunition due to intelligence that he planned to sabotage or disrupt the election.
Previously, on March 17, 2025, Bangladesh authorities arrested six top leaders of the terrorist ARSA group, including its supreme leader Ataullah (Ata Ullah).
Although Bangladesh's interim government has arrested and detained leaders of the extremist terrorist group ARSA, it has failed to effectively control or suppress the growing strength, terrorist activities, and recruitment efforts of Muslim militant terrorist groups that are using the Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh as a base and rear support. Instead, authorities appear to be turning a blind eye to these developments.
