ARSA and RSO Are Highly Getting Trained by the Bangladesh Military Inside Bangladesh

During a recent press briefing hosted by the Foreign Correspondents' Club of South Asia (FCC) on political developments in Bangladesh—particularly concerning former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina—a critical issue regarding the Arakan-Bangladesh border came to light. In his presentation, counter-terrorism analyst Abu Obaidha Arin stated:

“You can understand the ARSA, RSA, and RSO; they are highly getting trained within the border with the help of Bangladesh military also, and soon they will export terrorism all over the world. You can see in Malaysia, more than 36 terrorists were exported from Bangladesh. This is a matter of concern.”

These remarks are deeply concerning for the people of Arakan and Myanmar. In recent years, Islamist extremist groups such as ARSA and RSO have actively engaged in cross-border terrorist attacks against the Arakan Army, often in coordination with the brutal Myanmar junta forces, who have long oppressed the Muslim population in Arakan.

Following the fall of Maungdaw in late 2024, these militants crossed into Bangladeshi territory, establishing camps in close proximity to Bangladeshi border guard outposts.

The recent report suggesting that the Bangladesh military is providing training to these militant groups reinforces earlier allegations made by the Arakan Army regarding the collusion between Bangladeshi border forces and these extremist outfits.

Furthermore, the analyst noted that Bangladeshi authorities have recently decided to issue passports to all Muslims (Rohingya) individuals without any form of verification or proper record-keeping. If true, this policy could pose a significant global security threat. More critically, such actions would severely complicate any peaceful resolution to the ongoing refugee crisis along the border.
