Arakkha Government Intensifies "Clean Arakkha" Campaign Implementation in Mrauk-U

The Arakkha Government yesterday led a community effort to accelerate the "Clean Arakkha" campaign aimed at enhancing cleanliness, reducing reckless waste disposal, and improving public health within the central market of Mrauk-U Town, Arakan.
The clean-up operation was actively carried out for nearly five hours yesterday (September 11), from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM.
During the campaign, efforts focused mainly on clearing litter, debris, and plastic waste clogging the spaces between market stalls as well as on roads inside and outside the market area.
Additionally, rusted, decaying corrugated tin roofs and war debris left behind by the terrorist Military Commission forces' heavy artillery shelling in 2023 were systematically removed and cleared away.
Rather than dumping the collected waste indiscriminately, garbage trucks transported it systematically to designated disposal sites where paper and plastic are sorted.
This Clean Arakkha campaign saw collective participation from officials of the Arakkha Government Organizational Department, Mrauk-U Youth Force, township party youth members, volunteer youths from civil society organizations, and market committee officials.
During the operation, shop owners and shoppers actively cooperated by cleaning up their respective stall areas.
Most market vendors expressed joy over the collective cleaning effort, noting that it eliminated foul odors and allowed them to buy and sell in a clean and neat environment.
The Arakkha Government and local officials are continuously carrying out sanitation and rehabilitation work in public places under the Clean Arakkha campaign.
Previously, on August 14, led by the Mrauk-U District Party Office, a joint clean-up campaign was also conducted on a total of 10 bridges along the road section from Laung Kyet Bridge to the entrance bridge of Myaung Bwe Village.
