Arakha People’s Media Council Officially Formed with 15 Members in Arakan

The United League of Arakan (ULA) announced today, September 23, that the Arakha People’s Revolutionary Government has officially established the Arakha People’s Media Council (APMC) with 15 members in Arakan.

According to the statement, the executive leadership of the Arakha People’s Media Council includes U Aung Min Oo as Chairman, U Thein Tun Zan as Vice Chairman, U Naung Khine Aung as Secretary (1), U Aung Tun Sein as Secretary (2), U San Shwe Tun as Secretary (3), and U Khine Myat Kyaw as Treasurer.

The council is composed of 15 members in total: 1 Chairman, 1 Vice Chairman, 3 Secretaries, 1 Treasurer, and 9 council members, including an Auditor.

The membership comprises 8 representatives from the news media sector, 2 from literature, 1 from youth affairs, 1 from women's affairs, 1 from legal affairs, 1 from finance, and 1 from statistics.

The body brings together experts and representatives from a wide range of sectors beyond news media, including literature, music, youth, women, and law.

The Arakha People’s Revolutionary Government officially established the council to safeguard the public's right to information, protect press freedom and journalists' rights, resolve media-related disputes, and advance the development of the media sector.

The ULA statement noted that the Arakha People’s Media Council will begin implementing its duties starting next week.
