Arakan FC and MJFF Hold Charity Futsal Tournament in Japan for Flood and IDPs

A charity futsal tournament aimed at raising funds for flood victims and IDPs in Arakan was jointly organized by Arakan FC and the Myanmar in Japan Football Federation (MJFF) in Japan on July 26.

The event took place at the SHIN-MISATO Z FUTSAL SPORT ground in Misato City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan, with active participation from Arakanese expats in Japan as well as people of other ethnic nationalities.

The tournament charged an entry fee of 30,000 Japanese Yen per team, with a total of 53 teams competing in the event.

Regarding the awards, the first-prize winners were awarded a champion trophy, second place received silver medals, and third place received bronze medals. Individual honors, including Best Top Scorer, Best Defender, and Best Player of the Tournament, were also presented.

Due to continuous heavy rains from the first week through the second week of July in Arakan, severe flooding hit several townships, submerging homes and causing distress to local residents.

Additionally, according to 2025 statistics from the Humanitarian and Development Coordination Office (HDCO), there are over 600,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Arakan.
