Arakan Association - Korea and Arakanese Diaspora Donate Over 100 Million Kyats Worth of Stationery for Student IDPs in Arakan

The Arakan Association - Korea, together with Arakanese individuals and other Arakanese families residing in South Korea, has donated stationery items valued at over 1,000 lakh (100 million) kyats to internally displaced (IDP) students across 17 townships in Arakan.

The aid primarily consists of essential school supplies including textbooks, exercise notebooks, pencils, pens, rulers, compass sets, umbrellas, and backpacks. Additionally, financial support was provided to students facing severe hardship in continuing their education.

The donation aims to support and encourage students who face immense challenges in pursuing education due to conflict, while reassuring traumatized children that they have not been forgotten and that their community stands firmly with them.

Ko Aung Lwin, President of the Arakan Association - Korea, stated that distribution will continue in the remaining target areas, including Sittwe, Kyauktaw, Ann, and Paletwa townships.

These donations are being delivered through ground-level civil society organizations and the Humanitarian and Development Coordination Office (HDCO).

Currently, due to the terrorist military junta's daily airstrikes and heavy artillery shelling targeting educational facilities in the Arakan region, regular schools are unable to open, forcing students across Arakan to pursue their education through alternative and informal means.
