5 Bangladeshi Fishermen for Illegal Fishing

It is reported that personnel from the Arakan Coast Guard Security Force arrested and detained 5 Bangladeshi fishermen who illegally entered and engaged in fishing activities within Arakan territorial waters yesterday afternoon, June 28.


Upon spotting a suspicious motorized boat traveling in the sea between Kyauk Pandu and Gyin Taw villages in Maungdaw Township, Arakan Coast Guard personnel attempted to conduct an inspection. However, the boat fled to evade inspection.


The Arakan Coast Guard Security Force pursued the vessel and successfully seized the fishing boat carrying the 5 Bangladeshi fishermen at around 1:40 PM today, approximately 2.7 kilometers away from the southwest coast of the Gyin Taw creek mouth.


It is learned that the seized fishing boat and the 5 Bangladeshi fishermen are currently undergoing further investigation in accordance with relevant legal procedures.


Previously, on June 15, personnel from the Arakan Coast Guard Security Force had also arrested and detained 7 Bangladeshi fishermen who illegally entered and fished within Arakan territorial waters.
