Today, on the occasion of the 78th Chin National Day, the United League of Arakan / Arakan Army (ULA/AA) sent a congratulatory message, calling on the Chin and Rakhine peoples to jointly write a new chapter in history with the spirit of brotherhood.

In the congratulatory message, the ULA/AA placed strong emphasis on future cooperation based on the longstanding friendship that has existed for many years between the Chin people living in Arakan Region and the Rakhine people.

According to the message, under the previous military dictatorship system, ethnic nationalities were oppressed and not allowed to celebrate their national days freely and satisfactorily.

However, now that the Arakan People's Revolutionary Government has gained full control over the majority of townships in Arakan Region, the Chin people are now able to proudly and confidently hold their national day celebrations, the ULA/AA pointed out.

The Chin people living both inside and outside Arakan Region are recognized as “true brothers and sisters of Arakan” and “close neighbor brothers and sisters” together with the Rakhine people.

Although relations between the two ethnic groups had cooled in the past due to the divide-and-rule policies of the military authoritarian government, the message stated that mutual trust and understanding must now be rebuilt so that they can live together in genuine friendship and closeness.
