It has been reported that the Terrorist Military Commission forces and police units have begun destroying two Muslim-populated villages, Than Daw Le and IN Bar Ri, located near Police Battalion (12) in Sittwe, starting from April 3.
In March, Major General Kyaw Swa Oo, Commander of the Western Command, reportedly issued an order stating that all Muslim villages near Police Battalions (12) and (36), including Than Daw Le, must be completely demolished before the Thingyan festival.
This is reportedly to prevent the Arakan Army (AA) from using these villages as cover to approach and launch attacks on the military battalions.
According to local residents, the displaced Muslim villagers currently have no place to live and are seeking temporary shelter in vacant houses and near monasteries within Sittwe.
Than Daw Lee village, which is being demolished, is situated near Shwe Min Gan and Zaw Ma Tet areas where clashes frequently occur and is positioned directly between those villages and the military/police battalions.
The Terrorist Military Commission has reportedly forced all residents from Rakhine villages on the outskirts of Sittwe into the city. Civilian homes in those areas have been dismantled and sold, while some Rakhine villages have been cleared by fire.
Furthermore, the Terrorist Military Commission has been arresting numerous Muslims from villages within Sittwe, accusing them of having links to the Arakan Army (AA).
These individuals are reportedly being forced to the front lines and used as human shields in active combat, leading to many deaths and desertions on the battlefield.
It is observed that by forcing a large number of Muslims into the city, the Terrorist Military Commission is attempting to use the Muslim population as human shields in anticipation of upcoming battles within Sittwe.
