It is learned that 45 houses were damaged when a violent tornado struck Pein Taw Gyi village in Thandwe Township, Arakan State.

The violent tornado struck yesterday (July 5) at around 6:00 PM.

Currently, over 200 local residents whose houses were damaged are facing difficulties regarding shelter and basic livelihood needs (food, clothing, and shelter).

According to the statement released by the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, due to the strong monsoon over the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal, there are possibilities of heavy rainfall, flooding, and landslides along the Arakan coast and within Arakan.
