Over 160 Shade Trees Planted Along Minbya–Pauktaw Road Led by ULA

In Arakan, a joint tree-planting initiative was carried out on the afternoon of July 22 along both sides of the Minbya–Pauktaw Road in Minbya Township. The initiative aimed to support environmental conservation, mitigate climate change, and promote sustainable development.

The tree-planting drive was led by the ULA. Officials from township and tract administrative departments under the Arakha People's Revolutionary Government, forestry staff, youth and women’s groups, and local residents actively participated in the effort.

The event took place from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM. Along a 3,200-foot stretch of the road, a total of 160 trees comprising 50 royal poinciana (Delonix regia) trees and 110 ironwood (Mesua ferrea) trees were systematically planted at intervals of 20 feet.

Local residents hope that planting these roadside trees will enhance carbon sequestration capacity, provide shade for road users, preserve local biodiversity, and contribute to the development of green infrastructure in the region.
