The Myanmar military commission launched airstrikes using multiple Y-12 aircraft and fighter jets on areas around Chaung Sone Village in Paletwa Township, Paletwa District, at around 1:30 p.m. yesterday, October 18, according to local residents. Several civilians, including an infant were eported to be killed and injured

At around 1:30 p.m. yesterday, at least 20 bombs were dropped on a public motorboat jetty near Chaung Sone Village by Y-12 aircraft that took off from Magway Airbase and two fighter jets that took off from Tada-U Airbase.

According to local residents, the military commission’s bombing killed and injured at least 20 innocent civilians, including an infant only a few months old, who were working and living at the motorboat jetty in Chaung Sone.

The attack was reportedly a deliberate airstrike by the military commission on a public area where large numbers of civilians had gathered. One Nation News is continuing to investigate the number of civilian casualties.

On September 28, the Myanmar military commission also launched an airstrike on Indian Market in Kyauktaw, killing 50 innocent civilians in a mass-casualty attack and injuring nearly 60 others.

The military commission, which is facing defeats on the front lines against the Arakan Army (AA), has continued its aerial bombing campaign against areas inhabited by the people of Arakan out of desperation. These repeated airstrikes have led to a rising number of civilian casualties.
