Military Junta troops are dismantling and selling unoccupied, civilian-owned houses from 6 villages in Sittwe Township, Arakan State, according to local sources.
It is reported that the Military Junta troops are dismantling unoccupied homes in Thein Tan, Yar Tan, Kyauk Tan Gyi, Kyauk Tan Chay, Kyar Ma Thauk, and Kywei Tel villages within Sittwe Township, loading and transporting wooden posts, planks, and various types of timber to sell them.
Sergeant Than Phay from the military's Regional Operations Command (ROC) Headquarters, Tactical Commander Colonel Zin Maung Maung, and the officer-in-charge of the Nar Ye Kan Bridge have reportedly been collaborating since last March to cut down trees and dismantle houses, selling the materials to Muslims.
A Sittwe local also stated that the military is dismantling and selling unoccupied houses within Sittwe town as well.
Furthermore, Sittwe residents analyzed and commented that the military is taking house posts and high-quality timber to build military bunkers, and that these actions constitute the unlawful seizure of public property.
Currently, military tensions persist between the Military Junta troops and the Arakan Army (AA) within Sittwe Township, forcing locals from numerous villages near the town to remain displaced and flee their homes.
