The Myanmar military junta carried out an airstrike on the Kassapanadi Bridge in Kyauktaw at around 10:00 p.m. on March 12, according to local sources.

The attack was reportedly conducted by a jet fighter, which dropped bombs on the bridge. The strike hit the eastern entrance on the Kyauktaw side, causing significant damage to parts of the bridge structure.

The Kassapanadi Bridge is a major transportation route linking Kyauktaw with the townships of Mrauk-U, Minbya, and Myebon, and is widely used by civilians for daily travel and transportation.

The bridge was previously targeted in a military airstrike on February 11, 2024, when bombs struck the roadway. During that incident, bombs also hit Paikthay Muslim Village located beneath the bridge, reportedly damaging several homes and causing civilian casualties.

Earlier this month, on March 8, the military also carried out an airstrike on a prisoner-of-war detention site in the Darlat Chaung area of Ann Township, reportedly killing 116 prisoners of war and injuring 32 others.
