The Information and Public Relations Department of the Arakan Army (AA) issued a statement yesterday reporting that repeated airstrikes recent days by the terrorist Myanmar military targeting civilian areas have resulted in the death of one civilian and injuries to 13 others, including three monks.

According to the statement, the deceased victim was an innocent civilian from Ngat Gyi Kyun Village in Ponnagyun Township.

The report detailed that at approximately 12:00 PM on April 19, 2026, a single jet fighter from the terrorist Military Commission’s air force carried out an airstrike on Ngat Gyi Kyun Village, which led to the fatal casualty.

Earlier that day, at 10:00 AM and again at 12:30 PM, a jet fighter launched two separate attacks on the Kyauksepyin Monastery in Mrauk-U Township.

These strikes wounded a total of 13 people, including student monks who were studying at the time.

The bombardment also killed five cattle and one goat, while another cow was injured. Furthermore, the monastery, several religious buildings, and nearby residential homes were destroyed by fire.

Between 10:00 AM and 10:30 AM on the same day, the Myanmar military deployed three jet fighters to conduct seven consecutive airstrikes targeting: The Border Areas National Races Youth Development Training School (NATALA) in Yay Phyu Kan Village, Ponnagyun. The Ywa Haung Paing Ward in Ponnagyun Town. The local electrical power substation.

These attacks resulted in the destruction of the power substation by fire, damage to six residential homes in the Ywa Haung Paing Ward, and injuries to one civilian.

The AA statement highlighted that during this past week, the fascist Military Commission forces have intensified their aerial assaults using jet fighters to target non-military objectives across Kyauktaw, Ponnagyun, and Mrauk-U.

These targets include civilian residences, schools, hospitals, clinics, electrical power plants, religious buildings, and public infrastructure such as roads and bridges.

Additionally, the military deployed five jet fighters and two Y-12 transport planes in simultaneous, consecutive bombing runs over civilian areas in Kyauktaw and Paletwa townships throughout the week.
