A battle broke out between the Muslim armed groups ARA (Arakan Rohingya Army) and RSO (Rohingya Solidarity Organisation) in the Chakmakata area located in Bangladesh.
According to a report by TTN, a local Bangladeshi news agency, the clash has caused panic and heightened anxiety among residents living near the border.
Sources indicate that the armed conflict took place on Friday between 5:10 AM and 5:40 AM. While those sources claim the exchange of fire occurred approximately 2 kilometers east of the 'Zero Line' between border pillars 19 and 20 inside Myanmar territory, local residents assert that the fighting actually took place within Bangladesh.
The area falls under the jurisdiction of the Palongkhali Border Observation Post (BOP) of the 64th Battalion of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Ukhiya.
During the confrontation, both sides exchanged gunfire, with an estimated 200 to 250 rounds fired. However, TTN further reported that precise information regarding casualties from this incident is not yet available.
Border sources noted that even after the initial gunfire subsided, the sounds of shots being fired were still heard until Friday afternoon.
Meanwhile, fear persists among residents living in border areas, including Palongkhali and its surroundings. Relevant officials stated that the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) is vigilantly monitoring the situation and has increased surveillance along the border.
