The Military Council's air force, navy, and artillery units frequently target civilian residential areas in Rakhine State with heavy weapons without any reason, as the regime is losing ground across the region.
On the night of January 14 (the previous day), at around 10:10 PM, a heavy weapon shell fired from a Military Council naval vessel in Kyaukphyu Township landed and exploded on a hill south of Thaphanchaung Village. As a result, two internally displaced civilian spouses—U Kyaw Tun Win (age 34) and Daw Khin Lin Soe (age 30)—were instantly killed while sleeping.

According to reports from HDCO (Humanitarian and Development Coordination Office), the total number of innocent civilians killed across Rakhine State due to indiscriminate heavy artillery shelling, airstrikes, and other attacks by the terrorist Military Council from November 2023 to November 2025 stands at 1,005.
