On Christmas Day, in Rakhine State, Thandwe Township, the coup military commission carried out an airstrike using fighter jets, resulting in the death of an elderly female war-displaced person, according to reports from APM news sources.

Today, on December 25, at around 1 a.m., the military commission dropped two 500-pound bombs on Yap Shwe Village in Ward No. 5, Thandwe Township.

The deceased woman was identified as 55-year-old Daw Naw Say Ray Phaw.

She died instantly when a bomb dropped by the junta exploded near her while she was working in a rubber plantation east of the village.

Daw Naw Say Ray Phaw was a war-displaced person who had fled from the mainland, though her original hometown is not yet known.

As elections approach, the junta has intensified airstrikes and heavy artillery attacks from sea in townships in Rakhine that it has lost control of, leading to increased civilian casualties and deaths among local people.

In September, junta airstrikes in Thandwe Township killed one local civilian and injured four others, including a child and a pregnant woman, as officially stated by the ULA/AA in October.

Additionally, on December 10, the junta attacked the public hospital in Mrauk-U with two 500-pound bombs, killing 33 civilians and injuring nearly 80.
