The terrorist Muslim armed group ARSA abducted three locals, including a 16-year-old girl, who were tending cattle in southern Maungdaw Township this morning at around 7:00 a.m., according to local residents.

The abducted individuals are:

  • Ma Mi Sandar, 16, from Kin Chaung village

  • Maung Ba Htun, 41

  • Maung Htun Aye, 20

A Kin Chaung villager stated that the incident occurred near the Mayu mountain range in southern Maungdaw Township. Six villagers from Kin Chaung were tending cattle when approximately seven armed ARSA members arrived and took them into custody.

One person managed to escape and alerted the village people’s militia. During the subsequent search, two elderly men were found midway along the route. The three others—including the young woman—remain missing.

“This morning, ARSA came and abducted six locals who were grazing cattle. There were about seven of them, all armed. One managed to flee. When the people’s militia went searching, they found two elderly men. The other three are still missing,” a villager said.

Terrorist Muslim armed groups, operating from bases in Bangladesh, continue to infiltrate Buthidaung and Maungdaw townships in Arakan State, abducting and killing local travelers, residents report.

Just two days prior, on October 22, ARSA ambushed a passenger vehicle on the Zay Di Pyin–Kyauk Pandu mountain pass road, killing two local women and injuring a 3-year-old girl and two local men.

Due to ongoing militant activity, the Arakan Army issued a public safety advisory on October 23, urging locals and travelers to remain vigilant.
