The Arakkha Health Department has carried out a third round of vaccinations for children under the age of five across multiple townships in Arakan, as part of its ongoing public health efforts, according to local sources.

The campaign, conducted on March 23, forms part of a free immunization program implemented by the Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government. Officials said the latest round includes vaccines protecting against diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), and tetanus (DPT).

The vaccination program has been rolled out in phases. The initial round targeted children aged between two months and three years, while the second phase expanded coverage to those up to five years old. The current round continues to focus on children aged two months to five years.

A local resident who brought a child for vaccination told One Nation News, “Amid ongoing conflict and travel difficulties, it would be very hard to control an outbreak if a contagious disease spreads. In such a situation, providing preventive vaccinations like this is extremely important to protect children. We are very grateful to the Arakkha Health Department for offering free vaccinations despite the challenges. After our children received the vaccines, we feel more secure.”

In addition to towns and villages, vaccination teams are also reaching children in displacement camps. Health authorities are simultaneously conducting community outreach to encourage wider participation in the immunization program.
