The Arakkha Government has released three Muslim individuals on humanitarian grounds after determining they had no connection to illegal goods (Marijuana) or militant groups. Arfar Hussain (43), his wife Fatema Bibi (53), and their son Yasin Hussain (15) were handed over to their family on June 3, 2026, at 1:00 PM in Maungdaw Town. The release followed a request by some high-level international human rights officials and organizations.

The three were originally detained on April 22, 2026, when a boat carrying Marijuana from Bangladesh was intercepted by the Coastal Security Patrol Unit near Arakan coast. A total of seven individuals were found on board, including three Bengali laborers and four Muslims. The Hussain family was among those detained.

Investigations revealed that the family were lawful residents of Ward No. 2, Maungdaw Town. They had traveled to Bangladesh on October 12, 2024, with official permission from the Arakkha People's Revolutionary Government to seek medical treatment in Bangladesh.

Local inquiries confirmed they had no connection to the Marijuana cargo nor any affiliation with armed groups, and were peaceful residents earning an honest living.

Based on these findings, the Arakkha government released the three on humanitarian grounds. Before their release, they were required to sign a pledge agreement. They were then handed over to their family members in good health, concluding the matter with no further legal action.
