Arakan Authorities Seize Another Illegal Fishing Boat from Bangladesh

On October 29, 2025, the Coastal Security Sub-Unit departed by sea at 7 PM aboard one wooden boat to patrol and seize boats illegally entering Arakan territorial waters to poach fish.
During this patrol, at 7:30 PM, one wooden boat coming from Teknaf, Bangladesh, was found poaching fish approximately 2.14 kilometers west of the coastline near Ekraja Village in Maungdaw Township, within Arakan territory. The said fishing boat (1) has been seized.

Between January and July 18, 2025, Arakan authorities released approximately 188 Bangladeshi fishermen and 30 boats in the spirit of maintaining good bilateral relations. However, due to the lack of appropriate respect and reciprocal response from Bangladeshi authorities, subsequent intruders have been detained and are being prosecuted under the law.
