News ၊ November 1, 2026

The ULA/AA spokesperson, U Khine Thu Kha, told that the ULA/AA welcomes the railway construction project from India's Mizoram State to the Paletwa border, stating that it is a beneficial undertaking for the peoples of both countries.
According to reports, officials from India's Northeast Frontier Railway and Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma met and discussed the matter at the Chief Minister's Office in Aizawl on October 27.
The discussion reportedly centered on the railway construction project extending from Sairang, Mizoram, to Hmawngbuchhuah village in Lawngtlai District, which borders Paletwa Township in Myanmar.
The proposed railway aims to transport goods shipped via vessels from Sittwe Port in Arakan State along the Kaladan River to Paletwa from Paletwa to Hmawngbuchhuah village via overland routes.
From there, it will connect to Mizoram's capital and mainland India, serving as a strategic component of the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project.
"If the railway reaches the border of Arakan State, the flow of goods will become much smoother than it is now. This is a matter that will benefit the peoples on both sides, and therefore, the ULA/AA welcomes it," stated U Khine Thu Kha.
Additionally, reports indicate that the ULA/AA has been engaged in necessary coordination with the Indian central government regarding the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project, which connects Paletwa Township in Chin State to Sittwe City in Arakan State.
