The Arakan Army (AA) has released 30 prisoners of war, including police officers, and civilian detainees in Paletwa Township this morning under an amnesty, according to sources.

The Arakan Army (AA) released 16 junta soldiers as prisoners of war, one police officer, along with 5 of their family members and 8 civilian detainees.

Among those released are also members of the Khumi ethnic group. The released individuals have expressed their gratitude to the Arakan Army (AA), stating that throughout their detention period, AA officials took special care of their health and all other needs.

AA officials in Paletwa Township stated that the releases were carried out due to their commitment to valuing human rights and practicing humanitarian compassion.

The Arakan Army (AA) has been releasing prisoners of war—including numerous police and soldiers captured during its township offensives—as well as their family members, in batches.

It is reported that the number of prisoners of war released from those captured during the township offensives has now reached nearly two thousand.

The Arakan Army (AA) has called on junta soldiers serving on the front lines and members of people's militias who were forcibly conscripted to defect, surrender, and come over to the AA side. It has also announced that it guarantees the safety of those who defect.
