14 Bangladeshi Fishermen Detained by Arakan Authorities for Illegal Fishing

Fishing boats from Bangladesh illegally entered Arakan territorial waters to poach fish. In Maungdaw Township, approximately 3.8 kilometers off the coast west of Myin Hlut Village, Arakan coast guard authorities pursued and seized poaching fishing boats at 07:35.
One wooden boat with seven fishermen was captured, along with 48 viss of fish and one dragnet confiscated.
Additionally, in Maungdaw Township, approximately 800 meters off the coast west of Thawin Chaung Village, another wooden boat was spotted poaching fish. Authorities pursued and seized it at 08:07, capturing one wooden boat with seven fishermen, 400 viss of fish, 30 float nets, and two dragnets.

The relevant poaching fishermen, despite repeated warnings, violated the law by illegally fishing. Arakan authorities will take action in accordance with existing laws.
According to records, some fishermen posing as ARSA and RSO members collaborate with the Myanmar Navy to commit terrorist acts and smuggle narcotics into Bangladesh, acting in bribery with some elements of border authorities.
