The younger brother of Nabi Hossain, leader of the militant group ARA, has been assassinated in a refugee camp located in the Ukhiya Township of Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh.

According to local Bangladeshi media, the incident occurred on May 6 around 2:00 PM in the eastern area of Refugee Camp No. 8 in Ukhiya. Mohammad Asaduzzaman, commander of the 8th Armed Police Battalion (APBN), confirmed the shooting.

The victim, identified by Bangladesh police as Mohammad Kamal, the younger brother of ARA leader Nabi Hossain, was transported to a camp hospital with gunshot wounds. However, duty doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

This assassination occurred just one day after the death of senior ARO leader Abdul Halim (also known as Mohammad Halim). Halim was killed on May 5 near the Lal Bridge area close to the Kutupalong Refugee Camp (8W) by an unidentified armed group.

It is reported that the slain ARO commander, Abdul Halim, had previously collaborated with the terrorist military to fight against the Arakan Army (AA) during the 2024 seizure of the Border Guard Force (BGF) Battalion No. 5 in Maungdaw Township.

Militant groups frequently operate within the refugee camps in Bangladesh, carrying out violent acts against Muslim refugees. Mutual killings between these armed factions are reportedly occurring on a daily basis.
