BGB Seizes Record Haul of 1.05 Million Yaba Pills Worth Tk 31.78 Crore

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized a massive consignment of 1,059,400 Yaba pills, worth an estimated Tk 31.78 crore, marking the largest single-day recovery of the drug in the force's history.
The record-breaking seizure was made during two coordinated operations conducted under the Ramu Sector on April 11, 2026. According to Muslim refugees, these drugs belong to Muslim armed groups.
The primary bust took place around 3:00 AM after the 64 BGB Battalion detected a group of smugglers crossing the Naf River from Myanmar using radar and thermal imaging.
A special patrol team set up an ambush near the river embankment in the Nila area of Teknaf Upazila.
When challenged by the border guards, the smugglers abandoned 13 large sacks containing 859,400 Yaba pills and swam back to Myanmar territory to evade arrest.
In a follow-up operation later that afternoon, the Ramu Battalion (30 BGB) conducted a raid in the Tulabagan area of Khuniyapalong Union under Ramu Upazila.
This secondary sweep led to the recovery of an additional 200,000 Yaba pills.
The Muslim refugee camps in Bangladesh are dominated by Muslim armed groups, including the RSO, ARSA, ARA, and RIM.
