The relevant authorities under the Arakan People's Revolutionary Government have systematically investigated and returned 97 acres of farmlands to nine local owners in Khamoung Taw Village, Minbya Township, after the lands were unlawfully confiscated by the Myanmar military and its corporate cronies.

The land grab dates back to 1995 during the period when the military council held administrative control over Minbya Township. At that time, military officials, in collusion with local cronies, including village administrator U Tun Tin, forcibly seized 97 acres of agricultural land belonging to nine local families in Khamoung Taw Village.

Following the unlawful confiscation, the original landowners faced severe socioeconomic hardships and made repeated attempts over the years to reclaim their ancestral properties.

However, their appeals for justice were consistently denied, and the military council along with its subordinates continued to exploit the farmlands for more than two decades.

Following the establishment of the Arakan People's Revolutionary Government, the displaced landowners submitted formal complaints along with their ancestral deeds and ownership documents to the new administration.

The Farmland Management Committee of the Arakan People's Revolutionary Government subsequently conducted multi-round verifications of the farmers' documents, witness testimonies, and community validations.

Following this thorough legal process, the committee officially handed over the 97 acres of farmland back to the original owners along with formal land registry deeds.

Reports indicate that the Arakan People's Revolutionary Government is currently carrying out similar systematic reviews and land restorations across towns and villages under its administrative control, including Paletwa and other liberated areas in Arakan, to return properties that were corruptly or forcibly seized by the military council and its associates in the past.
